KEEGAN BROWN heads to Blackpool for his second BetVictor World Matchplay appearance having revived his career since missing out on a place at the Winter Gardens for the last two years.

The 2014 PDC Unicorn World Youth Champion made his debut in the prestigious tournament in 2015 and enjoyed a winning start, defeating world number ten Robert Thornton to progress to the last 16.

There, he met Dave Chisnall, who prevailed in a brilliant battle against Brown with the youngster losing out 13-11.

Now 25, Brown has been handed the chance to avenge that defeat after being handed a first round tie against ‘Chizzy’ on the opening night of this year’s tournament.

He will take on Chisnall on Saturday 21 July and, on recent form, it would be little surprise if Brown were to claim his first career win against the number eight seed – having come close on several occasions.

Their most recent meeting saw Chisnall edge victory by one leg in the last 16 of a ProTour event earlier this year.

Brown’s most famous match against his first round opponent saw his incredible run to the quarter-finals of the 2014 Grand Slam of Darts come to an end, with Chisnall eventually winning a captivating clash 16-14.

Having suffered a slump in form and facing the prospect of losing his professional tour card at one stage, Brown has demonstrated dedication, tenacity and his unquestionable talent to rise back to the world stage.

The Isle of Wight ace produced a fabulous run to the last 16 of the World Championship in December and has since reached quarter-finals at Players Championship and European Tour events.
