Vincent van der VOORT

Vincent van der Voort is an entertaining player who consistently produces high quality darts at amazing speed. He is regarded as the fastest player in the world.

Van der Voort, who was then known as Grease Lightning, kicked off his professional career by winning the Danish Open in 2002.

In 2005, he defeated defending champion Andy Fordham in the BDO World Championship and went on to reach the quarter-finals. He was crowned Dutch champion the following year and won the Danish Open again.

The Dutch Destroyer joined the PDC in 2007 and became an instant success. He reached the final of the UK Open, where he was beaten by compatriot Raymond van Barneveld, and surged into the top 20 in the world rankings.

Van der Voort continued his success in that tournament the following year with a run to the semi-finals, where he lost out to eventual winner James Wade. In 2009, the Dutchman became one of only two players to beat Phil Taylor in a televised match that year, with a sensational 5-1 thrashing of The Power at the Grand Slam of Darts. He also hit a perfect nine-dart finish at the Players Championship event in Nuland.

Van der Voort has continued to cause problems for many of darts top players, beating number four seed Simon Whitlock in the 2011 World Championship. He also came out on top in a match against Van Barneveld to win a UK Open qualifying event later in the year.

In June 2014, van der Voort claimed his biggest career victory when he won the Austrian Darts Open in Salzburg.
