MICHAEL VAN GERWEN heads to the World Cup of Darts looking to lead the Netherlands to a successful defence of the title, while Wales’ Jonny Clayton makes his debut in Frankfurt.

Van Gerwen will team up with Raymond Van Barneveld and the pair are the bookies favourites to win the £300,000 tournament.

The Dutch duo kick off their campaign against Gibraltar, featuring Dyson Parody and Justin Broton.

Clayton joins up with Gerwyn Price, who took Wales to last year’s final with Mark Webster.

Austrian Darts Open champion Clayton’s first appearance in the event will be against Thailand.

Australian ever-present Simon Whitlock, a former runner-up, will again team up with Kyle Anderson.

The pair, seeded fourth, will take on Hong Kong in the first round.

The Betway World Cup of Darts will be held from May 31-June 3 at the Eissporthalle in Frankfurt, Germany, and broadcast live on Sky Sports.
