MICHAEL VAN GERWEN continued his perfect start to the 2019 Unibet Premier League campaign with a 7-2 victory over Rob Cross in Dublin.

The Dutch star missed darts to win 7-0 before taking two points as the world number one triumphed over the world number two.

“My finishing was incredible in the early part of the match but I made mistakes at the end,” admitted Van Gerwen, who has won his first three matches.

“A 7-2 win against Rob Cross is a fantastic result but it could have been better.

“I’ve had a really good start to the season, though, and I am confident of keeping that going.”

Van Gerwen raced into a four-leg lead with the aid of 100, 88 and 74 checkouts.

He then landed double eight before a 180 helped him break Cross again but missed two darts to complete a whitewash win in the seventh leg.

Cross made it 6-2 before Van Gerwen finally finished the job on double four.
