LAST WEEKEND saw the return of the PDC ProTour and Michael Van Gerwen stormed to the top of the UK Open Order of Merit by winning the first two events of the year.

The Dutch ace took glory in Friday and Saturday’s tournaments with final wins over Michael Smith and Darren Webster respectively.

He also hit a nine-darter on Sunday before losing out to Smith in the quarter-finals.

John Henderson (pictured) continued the good from he showed in 2017 as he reached the semi-finals of Sunday’s tournament.

Joe Cullen and Richard North both enjoyed quarter-final runs, while Simon Whitlock, Keegan Brown, Robert Thornton, Andy Jenkins and Vincent van der Voort are also sitting pretty in the Order of Merit following the triple-header of events at Robin Park.

Ryan Meikle produced a stand-out moment when he defeated World Champion Rob Cross.
