Michael van Gerwen retained his Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters title with victory over Peter Wright in Friday’s final.

The Dutchman triumphed 11-7 to clinch the $50,000 title at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium, after defeating Adrian Lewis by the same scoreline earlier in the evening.

van Gerwen had won a close quarter-final against James Wade on Thursday, edging out the Aldershot ace 10-9 in what proved to be his toughest match of the tournament.

Like Wade, Australia’s Simon Whitlock bowed out in the quarter-finals despite the former European Champion averaging over 100 in his defeat against Dave Chisnall.
