AUSTRALIAN ACE Simon Whitlock is brimming with confidence as he returns to his home country following a promising start to August’s triple-header of World Series of Darts events.

Whitlock enjoyed a run to the semi-finals of the Auckland Darts Masters after defeating World Champion and number one seed Rob Cross in the quarters in New Zealand.

‘The Wizard’ averaged almost 100 in his victory over Cross before bowing out to Raymond Van Barneveld in the last four.

But the Aussie icon feels ready to go even further in the upcoming Melbourne Darts Masters, which begins on Friday, and Brisbane Darts Masters.

“I was feeling confident coming over here and that has only grown,” said Whitlock, Australia’s top player.

“It is always nice to beat the World Champion but I believe I am as good as Rob and should be winning matches against the few players that are ranked higher than me.

“I was disappointed I didn’t turn up against Peter Wright at the World Matchplay but I keep getting tougher and my best form is front of me.

“I’m ready to go all the way in Australia. It’s the perfect place for me to do it.”
