Michael van Gerwen claimed an astounding World Championship semi-final victory against Adrian Lewis to edge closer to realising his title dream.

The Dutch ace, who will become the new world number one if he defeats Peter Wright on New Year’s Day, took just 40 minutes to complete a six-set whitewash over the two-time World Champion on Monday.
