Simon Whitlock fought off Ian White to reach the semi-finals of the World Darts Championship,while James Wade and Michael van Gerwen moved into the quarter-finals on Saturday.

Whitlock edged out White in a thrilling match, winning a ninth set tie-break after surrending leads of 3-1 and 4-0.

‘The Wizard’ will take on Peter Wright on Monday for a place in the final.

Wade will face Adrian Lewis in the quarter-finals on Sunday after claiming a straight sets victory over South Africa’s Devon Peterson.

van Gerwen meets Mark Webster for a spot in the semis after a thrilling comeback against Gary Anderson saw him progress.
