RISING STARS Jarred Cole (pictured) and Bradley Brooks both achieved their first PDC ProTour quarter-final places at this week’s Players Championship events on Sunday.

Cole, who turns 18 on Thursday, reached the last eight on Tuesday with brilliant victories against Vincent van der Voort, Scott Taylor, Jonny Clayton and Adam Hunt.

His run was eventually ended by former World Champion Mark Webster.

Brooks caused a sensation in Wednesday’s event by knocking out number one seed Peter Wright 6-3 in the second round.

He had earlier beaten Poland’s Tytus Kanik and went on to defeat Robert Marijanovic and Jermaine Wattimena, before losing out to eventual champion Ian White – despite averaging almost 100 in the quarter-final.

Tuesday’s tournament saw Welsh ace Webster reach the semi-finals, while Dutchman Danny Noppert enjoyed a run to the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
