Andy Jenkins produced a string of fine performances on Sunday to reach his first PDC Pro Tour final in five years at Players Championship 14 in Wigan.

The former World Championship semi-finalist clinched the £5000 runner-up prize after losing out against Ian White in the decider at Robin Park.

Jenkins began his surge with a 6-1 win over Shaun Griffiths before seeing off John Bowles 6-4.

‘Rocky’ then claimed further victories against Darren Johnson and Michael Smith to reach the quarter-finals, where he claimed a 6-4 success over Andy Smith.

Jenkins, whose performance saw him rise to 56th in the Order of Merit, earned his place in the final with 6-4 defeat of Darren Webster but was denied the title by White, who won 6-3.
