KEELAN KAY returned to form in Solihull as he defeated Connor Arberry in a thrilling final to take the penultimate leg of Junior Darts Corporation MODUS UK Darts Tour.
‘The lord of the board’ has struggled for form in recent months, but sky-rocketed up the order of merit after a spectacular performance at Riley’s Solihull.
Kay produced an outstanding 88.5 average to stave off a late come back from Lancashire’s Nathan Care, before making light work of Henry Coates in the quarter-finals before facing Lennon Craddock in the final four.
Craddock had defeated three-time event winner Brad Phillips earlier in the day and pushed Kay hard as he took him to last leg decider.
A well-timed maximum would turn the tide Kay’s way in the deciding leg, as he progressed to the final in Solihull.
His sensational form would continue into the final match of the afternoon as he pulled out another 85 plus average to defeat Arberry 6-2 in the final.
Earlier in the day Arberry had set a new JDC record, hitting a 100.2 average in his 3-0 quarter-final win over Tavis Dudeney, taking the record of Nathan Care.
Five maximums along with a mouth-watering 116 checkout kept the Cambridgeshire thrower at arm’s length as Keelan Kay was crowned JDC Tour seven champion.
The JDC MODUS UK Tour will come to a conclusion at Riley’s Wolverhampton on 10th November as the players to look to secure their places at the JDC World Championship in December.
