JAMIE LEWIS fended off a fightback from Cody Harris to win his first match at the 2018/19 William Hill World Darts Championship on Friday.

The Welshman, who reached the semi-finals 12 months ago, moved into round three after defeating New Zealand’s Harris in a deciding set.

Lewis won the first two sets 3-1 but was forced to a fifth and final set when Harris took sets three and four 3-2.

Lewis found an extra gear in the final set, though, winning three straight legs with 180s in each of them.
