James Wade and Mark Webster both earned victories as the first round of the World Championship concluded on Thursday evening at London’s Alexandra Palace.
Wade survived a scare when Darren Webster missed six darts for a shock victory but ‘The Machine’ came back firing to win a deciding set.
Mark Webster also triumphed in a deciding set against Austrian Mensur Suljovic, winning a tie-break with the aid of a brilliant 150 finish.

The second round gets underway on Friday evening, with Raymond van Barneveld facing Jamie Caven.
Robert Thornton takes on Beau Anderson on Saturday, while Sunday’s afternoon session sees Paul Nicholson meet Kevin Painter and Simon Whitlock up against Jarkko Komula.
Michael van Gerwen is back in action on Sunday evening against Kevin McDine, after Webster meets John Henderson.
Wade will take on Andy Smith on Monday night, with Vincent van der Voort playing Adrian Lewis.
