MICHAEL VAN GERWEN will meet Gary Anderson in the semi-finals of the William Hill World Championship after defeating Ryan Joyce comfortably on Saturday.
World number one Van Gerwen will face off against fellow two-time World Champion and an eagerly anticipated clash at Alexandra Palace on Sunday evening.
Van Gerwen eased to a 5-1 quarter-final success against Joyce, posting his 17th consecutive average of 100 at the World Championship.
“I’m expecting something special from myself,” said Van Gerwen.
“It is always a great game between me and Gary and I think it will be the same again.
“I think my level has been better than his so far but we both know what to expect and it is going to be a fantastic occasion.”
