One of the world’s leading darters has taken the chance to brush up on his painting skills – after being inspired by having a colour named after him.
Ayrshire ace Robert Thornton is one of five oche favourites to feature on the ‘Colours of the Darts Scene’ colour card created by Leyland Paints along with Simon Whitlock, Mark Webster, Premier League champion Michael van Gerwen and James Wade.
Thornton was allocated the ‘Thorny Blue’ colour by Leyland Paints, inspired by the colour of the darts shirt he wears in major tournaments.
The colour card made the Scotsman lay down his darts and pick up a paint brush as he looked to add a splash of colour to his home.
Thornton used Leyland Trade Paints in soft sheen, along with white undercoat, gloss and vinyl matt, which were all purchased from the Johnstone’s Decorating Centre in Ayr.
“I’ve been looking to decorate for some time and featuring on the Leyland Paints Colour of the Darts Scene Card earlier in the year gave me the inspiration I needed,” said the 46-year-old, a former UK Open winner.
“I was very impressed with Leyland Paints product and absolutely delighted with the outcome.”
Leyland Paints have been at the heart of darts for the last two years, sponsoring world number four Whitlock and former BDO World Champion Webster.
