Some of the world’s top professional darts stars are in action at the inaugural Isle of Wight Christmas Classic in two weeks time.

Tickets are still available for the exciting event on Friday 6 December, which will see Premier League players James Wade, Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld compete at Lower Hyde Holiday Park, Shanklin, which hosted the hugely successful Isle of Wight Pro Masters earlier this year.

Seven-time PDC major title winner Wade is set to return after taking part in the March event alongside local youngster Keegan Brown, who recently defeated Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor.

Joining the pair will be a trio of Dutch darting heroes with former World Cup winner Co Stompe appearing in addition to world number two van Gerwen and five-time World Champion van Barneveld.

Premier League champion van Gerwen, who was also runner-up at last year’s World Championship is hoping to be on top form in the event.

He said: “I am really looking forward to visiting the Isle of Wight and playing in the Christmas Classic.

“I have heard fantastic things about the tournament they held earlier in the year and I am looking forward to putting a show on for the fantastic crowd.

“The line-up is brilliant and very competitive so I’m sure it will be a quality event and a lot of fun too.

“I am aiming to be at my best because it is only a week before the World Championship and that is when we all need to peak. So I’m sure the crowd will be treated to a night of the very best darts possible.”
