MICHAEL VAN GERWEN will face Rob Cross, Joe Murnan and Ross Montgomery as the world number one begins his defence of the Grand Slam of Darts title in Wolverhampton.

The Dutchman, who is bidding for a third consecutive Grand Slam success, will compete in Group A as the top seed for the £450,000 tournament.

Welsh ace Mark Webster was drawn in Group D with Daryl Gurney, Darren Webster and Danny Noppert.

World Grand Prix runner-up Simon Whitlock will meet Gary Anderson in Group H along with Berry Van Peer and Cameron Menzies.
