LUKE HUMPHRIES bravely revealed that he has been suffering with an anxiety disorder that has caused him severe discomfort, pain and concern during professional darts matches.
MODUS would like to put on record our full support of Luke as he seeks the expert medical help that is required in order for him to continue live his dream of being a professional darts player and continue his fabulous progress in the sport.
Following his German Darts Open defeat against James Wade last weekend, Humphries was seen immediately by onsite paramedics after suffering an anxiety and panic attack – and went on to reveal that this has been affecting him regularly for the last 18 months.
Luke’s medical issue makes it more remarkable that he has been able to achieve incredible success in that period; topping the PDC Development Tour Order of Merit twice, reaching the World Championship quarter-finals and appearing in the Premier League.
Luke’s health and well-being is rightly his priority and ours and his situation is being closely monitored. He has decided to play in this week’s Players Championship events before making a decision on whether or not to take a short break from playing in order to undergo treatment.
We do not yet know the advice of medical professionals so cannot comment further at this stage, other than to say that Luke has our full support.
