BUSTER TURNER secured his first Junior Darts Corporation MODUS UK Tour title on Saturday afternoon as he defeated Keelan Kay in Exeter.
Turner, 15, from Hampshire, produced a sensational display in the final to whitewash a former Tour winner in Keelan Kay. The former Riley’s Benfleet finalist was the red-hot favourite from the beginning of play having rattled in 70 plus averages in his last 16 and quarter-final victories.
After securing three titles already in 2018 Brad Phillips was heavily touted to reach another final, but Turner produced his performance of the day to make light work of the order of merit leader.
He would then generate a similar performance to his earlier semi-final win in the day’s final. Keelan Kay had produced several whitewash victories of his own before taking centre stage, where Turner would hand out a taste of his own medicine. The Hampshire born thrower seeing off ‘The Lord of the Board’ in double quick time.
Turner’s pinpoint checkout accuracy made life difficult for the more experienced Kay, who rarely had a shot at the outer ring. His victory means Turner has secured a place in December’s JDC World Championships as well as a significant rise up the JDC order of merit.
The next JDC Tour event will take place at Riley’s Solihull on the 27th October. For more information please visit juniordarts.com
