MICHAEL VAN GERWEN was named as the PDC Player of the Year for 2017 at the Annual Awards Dinner at The Dorchester, London on Monday Night.
The world number one was rewarded for another remarkable year, which began with last January’s World Championship triumph.
The 28-year-old Dutchman went on to win 18 tournaments, including a fourth successive European Championship and third Premier League, Masters and Grand Slam of Darts titles.
Van Gerwen was also nominated for ProTour Player of the Year and Televised Performance of the Year.
Fellow MODUS-represented talents Richard North and Luke Humphries were also recognised, both picking up nominations in the Best Newcomer category.
Van Gerwen and Ryan Meikle collected silver pins for nine-dart finishes on the ProTour in 2017.
