MICHAEL VAN GERWEN produced a memorable display to retain his Shanghai Darts Masters title as he defeated Dave Chisnall 8-0 in the final of the year’s second World Series event.

The World Champion and world number one had to draw on many of the qualities that have seen him dominate the sport for the last few years, though, especially in his quarter-final win against Phil Taylor.

Van Gerwen trailed the 16-time World Champion 5-0 in the last eight but launched an incredible fightback to triumph 8-7.

He followed that with a more comfortable 8-3 success over James Wade in the semi-finals before racing to glory with a whitewash win over Chisnall in the decider.
