MICHAEL VAN GERWEN’s three-year reign as bwin Grand Slam of Darts Champion was ended by Gary Anderson in Sunday’s semi-finals before Gerwyn Price went on to take the crown in Wolverhampton.
The world number one lost out 16-12 to Scotsman Anderson, who was beaten by Price in the final.
“I didn’t play well and Gary deserved to beat me,” said Van Gerwen.
“I am very disappointed but only with my own performance. I will work hard to make sure this does not happen again.”
Van Gerwen will return to action next weekend in Minehead, where he bid to defend his Players Championship Finals title before next month’s World Championship.
