SIMON WHITLOCK continued his impressive recent form by defeating world number two Peter Wright to reach the quarter-finals of the bwin Grand Slam of Darts.
The former European Champion enjoyed 10-6 success against Wright in Wolverhampton on Wednesday – the same scoreline he defeated the Scotsman with during his run to the final of last month’s European Championship.
“I’m over the moon to be in the quarter-finals,” said Whitlock, who will face Gerwyn Price on Friday.
“I hit two 170s when I beat Gerwyn in the group so hopefully I can do something similar.
“I’m really happy with my game right now. This is a very open tournament I have every chance of winning it.”
