LEGENDARY Scottish darts star Gary Anderson will meet Daryl Gurney in Edinburgh in a change to the original line-up for the two-time World Champion’s homecoming appearance.
World number three Gurney has come in as a late replacement for Raymond van Barneveld (ranked 29th) who has withdrawn to play in qualifiers for ranking tournaments, as he bids to reach the big TV events in his final year as a professional.
Scotland’s number one Anderson will now meet Gurney in a clash between two of the world’s top four at the Corn Exchange on Saturday 18 May.
Former World Grand Prix winner and current Players Champion Gurney said: “When I got the opportunity to play in this event, I was delighted to take it.
“I have a lot of respect for Gary Anderson and what he has achieved, and I will be honoured to share the stage with him in Scotland.”
Preceding the head-to-head showdown between Anderson and Gurney will be appearances from two of the sport’s greatest entertainers – Wayne Mardle and Bobby George.
There will also be a challenge match between Scottish ladies Lynn Cowan and Susanna McGimpsey.
