SIMON WHITLOCK is returning ‘down under’ full of confidence following his run to the quarter-finals of the BetVictor World Matchplay in Blackpool last week.
Australian number one Whitlock has earmarked upcoming trips to Auckland, Melbourne and Brisbane as the the perfect time and place to pick up a maiden World Series of Darts title.
‘The Wizard’ enjoyed victories against Richard North and James Wade in Blackpool before losing in the last eight to world number two Peter Wright.
That run came soon after reaching the final of the Danish Darts Open and Whitlock believes that his first title of the year may be just around the corner.
“I’m feeling really good and feel like I’m getting better and better this year,” said Australia’s most successful player ever.
“I was disappointed that I didn’t get going against Peter at the World Matchplay. My best game wasn’t quite there but I know it is in me and it is going to come out soon.
“If it happens while I’m in New Zealand or back home in Australia then that would be perfect. I’d love to win one of these events and I absolutely believe I can.”
Whitlock will be in action at the following World Series of Darts events:-
Auckland Darts Masters: 3-5 August 2018
Melbourne Darts Masters: 10-12 August 2018
Brisbane Darts Masters: 17-19 August 2018
