Five-time World Darts Champion Raymond van Barneveld will spearhead a field of major title winners, who will be pitted against young guns when A Night of Champions returns to Queen Elizabeth Hall in December.
Dutch great van Barneveld will be joined be three other major champions when the popular event takes place in Oldham on Friday 8 December.
Scotland’s Robert Thornton, who has won the World Grand Prix, UK Open and World Masters, will perhaps be Barney’s main rival for the title.
He will be joined by fellow Scot John Henderson, winner of several Opens and a European Tour finalist.
But Stockport’s Darryl Fitton, last year’s World Trophy winner, will be hoping to draw on vociferous local support to aid his cause.
Former Players Champion Paul Nicholson will also be in the running, as will the highly entertaining former professional Wayne Mardle, who will be adding some razzmatazz to proceedings as always.
In addition to the line-up of experienced champions, three of the sport’s rising stars – including two from Lancashire, will be competing.
They are Bradley Brooks, of Blackburn, Jim Moston, of Stoke-on-Trent, and Oldham’s own Callum Loose.
Darting legend van Barneveld said: “I’m really looking forward to this event. It is a great line-up of champions but, trust me, the young players are equally dangerous.”
