Michael van Gerwen and Robert Thornton turned on the style as both averaged well in excess of 100 in Premier League victories in Belfast on Thursday evening.

van Gerwen maintained his winning start to the season, defeating Dave Chisnall 7-4, while Thornton hit eight 180s in his first win of the campaign – a 7-2 triumph against fellow Scot Gary Anderson.

Simon Whitlock remains without a win from the first three weeks, however. The Australian ace suffered defeat at the hands of Raymond van Barneveld.

Phil Taylor is also yet to pick up a point. ‘The Power’ lost out to Peter Wright, while Wes Newton saw off Adrian Lewis in the evening’s other match.

van Gerwen meets van Barneveld in Glasgow next Thursday, when Whitlock will do battle with Taylor. Thornton is up against Newton.
