WOMEN’S DARTS STARS Fallon Sherrock and Corrine Hammond will play in qualifiers for the William Hill World Darts Championship, MODUS can confirm.

The duo, both Lakeside finalists, have entered qualifying events following the PDC’s announcement that two places will be on offer for female players at 2018/19 event staging of the sport’s most prestigious tournament.

Sherrock (pictured), who has been in fine form so far this year, will compete in the UK and Ireland Qualifier on Sunday November 25 at Arena MK in Milton Keynes.

Austalian ace Hammond will bid to book her place at Alexandra Palace via the Rest of the World Qualifier on Saturday November 17.

Sherrock, 24, said: “I’m buzzing to have entered this qualifier and I can’t wait for it to come around.

“It is a unique opportunity for us women darts players and I could not miss the chance to qualify for the PDC World Championship.

“I am playing well enough to win through and it would be a dream and an honour to represent women’s darts at Alexandra Palace.”

Hammond posted on her twitter page: “I hope it’s a massive field of ladies for these qualifiers. Mostly to prove once and for all that we really do love playing darts and can be just as serious about it as the men.”
