Van Gerwen Takes Title as MODUS Stars Impress in Wigan

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN won his third title of 2019 as fellow MODUS aces made impressive starts to the new ProTour season.

Van Gerwen won Players Championship One on Saturday, while Jonny Clayton and Joe Cullen both reached semi-finals in Sunday’s event.

In fact, the trio were the only three players from 128 participants to make it to the last 16 in both tournaments.

Van Gerwen also produced a nine-darter in Sunday’s quarter-final defeat against Clayton.

John Henderson also reached the last eight at Players Championship Two.
