Paul Nicholson will meet James Wade in the last 16 of the Grand Slam after ‘The Asset’ won his decisive group match on Tuesday, while Wade and Michael van Gerwen both made it three wins out of three in Wolverhampton.

Nicholson defeated Stuart Kellett 5-2 in their all-or-nothing clash to set up a second round tie with 2010 runner-up Wade, who continued his strong start to the tournament by beating Wesley Harms by the same score-line.

van Gerwen will take on Adrian Lewis on Thursday after the Dutchman stormed back from 4-1 down to defeat Kim Huybrechts 5-4 in Group D, where Vincent van der Voort’s campaign ended on a high with a 5-3 success over Dean Winstanley.
