Robert Thornton produced a string of strong showings to reach his first Grand Slam of Darts final but was denied a second PDC major by world number one Phil Taylor on Sunday evening.
Former UK Open winner Thornton continued the good form that saw him win a Players Championship event in Killarney at the end of October, winning five matches over nine days in Wolverhampton before succumbing to ‘The Power’ in the decider.
James Wade sealed his spot in the last 16 of the Grand Slam of Darts on Sunday after grabbing his second group stage victory, while Raymond van Barneveld, Simon Whitlock, Michael van Gerwen and Robert Thornton all also won to maintain one-hundred-percent records in the round robin. (more…)
