PROFESSIONAL DARTS STARS, including several MODUS-represented players, will battle it out at the 2018 Worthington’s Champion of Champions Grand Final in Cardiff on Saturday.

2016 champion Jonny Clayton will return in an attempt to regain the £5000 title and will be joined by fellow Welsh ace Jamie Lewis.

Multiple major champion Robert Thornton is another star name in the field of the prestigious tournament, which is sponsored by Red Dragon and Molson Coors and supported by MODUS.

Richard North, a finalist on the PDC ProTour last year, is joined by fellow MODUS players David Evans, Chas Barstow and Keelan Kay.

Clayton, who has gone on to reach a major PDC final and win two professional titles since his Champion of Champions glory, said: “The organisation is second to none and pits some of the best-known names in the game alongside pub champions.

“The tournament has a great, big-stage feel to it and I’m sure the 2018 event will be even bigger and better.”

The Grand Final sees winners from pub heats which were held all around the UK and the tournament mirrors the best of three legs 501 format of the iconic former major event – The News of the World.

Simon Hall, Head of Marketing at Red Dragon Darts, added: “The Worthington’s Champion of Champions is the people’s darts tournament.

“Pubs and clubs are at the heart of the sport and as we have seen in previous years, they produce some fantastic darting talent. The event has grown over 200% every year and already this year’s take up means it will be another incredible show piece event for every dart player taking part.”

The popular tournament, now in it’s fifth year, has quickly become popular with players of all standards and darts fans and MODUS is proud to support the event.
