JOHN HENDERSON reached the semi-finals at the World Grand Prix in 2017 and is hoping for an overdue run at the BetVictor World Matchplay next week.

The Scottish ace takes on Belgium’s Kim Huybrechts on Tuesday evening at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, where he will hope to take advantage of his opponent’s unwanted record of never having won a match there.

Henderson followed up his success in Dublin last year – which began with a sensational victory over world number one Michael van Gerwen – by defeating World Grand Prix winner Daryl Gurney in a run to the last 16 of the World Championship.

His form in 2018 has been solid, helping him secure a spot in Blackpool, where he takes on a man who he has a very good record against, having beaten Huybrechts nine times in 12 meetings.
